KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- The Scouts Association of Malaysia (Pengakap) plans to build a three-star hotel at the site of its headquarters in Jalan Hang Jebat here to strengthen its financial resources, National Chief Scout Datuk Seri Shafie Mohd Salleh said today.
He said the 29-storey hotel was expected to be built in the middle of this year and would house the association's headquarters as well as a museum on the history and background of the scout movement in the country.
"We will build the hotel on our own to generate the association's economy and make the scout movement more relevant," he told reporters after presenting scout honours, here.
Also present were National Scout Chief Commissioner Datuk Kaharudin Mo'min and National Girl Guides Chief Commissioner Datin Zalillah Mohd Taib.
Shafie said the hotel would also facilitate the accommodation of the association's members from within and outside the country.
